Xreal Unveils Xreal Air 2 and Air 2 Pro: Advancements in AR Technology
D4, A2 "From Enhanced Optics to Spatial Interaction, Xreal Takes Augmented Reality to New Heights"
Xreal has introduced its latest offerings in the augmented reality (AR) space with the Xreal Air 2 and Air 2 Pro. These cutting-edge AR headsets bring a host of enhancements, ranging from display quality to design improvements and audio technology.
Precision Display: The Xreal Air 2 boasts meticulously calibrated brightness levels for color accuracy and a gamma rating of 2.2. This precise calibration ensures a Delta E 2000 (a measure of color difference) of less than 3, enhancing the visual experience. However, there's still room for improvement compared to traditional displays.
Lightweight Design: Xreal has incorporated new materials in the Air 2, including a magnesium alloy crossbeam and lightweight plastic shell particles. These innovations have resulted in a 10% reduction in body weight, bringing it down to just 72g (excluding the nose bridge). Moreover, the weight distribution has been optimized, with nearly a 50:50 balance between the glasses' temples and the nose bridge. This design reduces the burden on the wearer's nose and offers a more evenly distributed pressure for added comfort.
Enhanced Audio: The Xreal Air 2 comes equipped with advanced audio technology, featuring larger resonant chamber speakers. It introduces innovative algorithms such as virtual bass, dynamic volume adjustment (DRC), EQ sound field widening, and non-linear distortion noise elimination, all of which contribute to improved mid-low frequency performance. Additionally, an open rear cavity design and phase superposition principle work together to prevent sound leakage, enhancing privacy during audio interactions.
Xreal Air 2 Pro: Building upon the Air 2, the Air 2 Pro introduces electrochromic technology. This allows wearers to manually adjust the light transmittance of the lenses, adapting to varying lighting conditions. It offers three levels of adjustment, enhancing versatility.
Xreal Beam Integration: Xreal Beam, a companion handset launched earlier, now serves as a remote control for spatial interaction, adding a new layer of functionality to the AR experience.
Pricing and Packages: The Xreal Air 2 is priced at RMB 2,499 ($342.12), while the Xreal Air 2 Pro is available for RMB 2,999. Xreal has also introduced the "Xreal AR Spatial Pack," combining the Xreal Air 2 and Xreal Beam, available for RMB 3,298. Users can explore various colors and textures with seven different sticker sets, allowing for customization.
Availability: Presales for the Xreal Air 2 and Xreal AR Space Screen Set will commence on September 6 in Xreal's official stores on Tmall and JD.com, with official sales starting on September 12 in China. The presale for the Xreal Air 2 Pro is set to begin on September 19 on Tmall and JD.com, with the official sale date yet to be announced.
Xreal's latest offerings promise to elevate the AR experience, offering improved comfort, enhanced visuals, and greater versatility. As AR technology continues to advance, Xreal remains at the forefront of innovation in this dynamic field.
